The children in Pokhara don’t have any toys. We wanted to show them that we care and think about them. Children in Gothenburg, Sweden created unique Dala Horses, a traditional toy from Sweden, as a gift to the children in Pokhara.
We wanted to celebrate the 400 years of Dala Horse, which in the olden days was mostly used as a toy for children and has become a symbol of Dalarna, as well as Sweden in general.
We wanted to create a unique connection between children in Sweden and and less fortunate children in Mongolia and Nepal. 400 Dala Horses was used as a canvas for the children to creatively paint their own Dala Horses at the Gothenburg Cultural festival. It was a hectic day but we managed to get all 400 horses painted. To see the pictures and the video please visit http://onelifedreams.com/dreams/painting-dala-horses-changing-world/
The Dala Horses then travelled all the way from Gothenburg, Sweden to Pokhara, Nepal. With the help of charity organization One Life Matters, we were connected to the Keller family. They are brokers of need and do many amazing projects around Pokhara. The Keller provided transportation for us to visit two schools so we could hand out the Dala Horses.
It is impossible to describe the reactions of the children. So, we suggest you check out this video ;-).

We hope that the children of Pokhara will have a lot of fun with their horses and that we have been able to give them a valuable memory. If you are touched by this story I suggest that you check out the projects the Keller family and One Life Matters are working on in Nepal by clicking HERE and if you click HERE you can do a small contribution to their project.
We want to thank all the children and parents in Sweden who participated in this project. We want to of course thank everyone that helped us make the impossible real - Creating 400 unique toys and give them to less fortunate children. We Love you!
We want to thank the following for making this amazing project possible and for helping out.
