Eli, Shrabonti and Shabnoor want to become doctors. These girls live in slum dwellings with their families in a city in Bangladesh. They used to be street beggars, looking for any amount of money that could help their families. Today they are involved in the OneLife day-shelter for beggar girls, where they are loved, cared for and educated. The dream of becoming a doctor could become a reality.
The day-shelter prevents child trafficking and child marriages by providing free education and skills training, meals and medical care for beggar girls. Since the girl’s shelter is free, parents are willing to let their girls go to the shelter, learn useful skills and grow up before they are married.
