In China more than 58 million children are left in the countryside while their parents go to the big cities or factories to work. These ‘left-behind’ children usually live with their grandparents and may see their parents only once a year. These children experience psychological and emotional problems including: feelings of vulnerability, low self-esteem, lack of confidence, anxiety, and pessimism. Living without parents, children display a reduced interest in learning, are apathetic to ethical concerns, and have security problems.
OneLife is giving love, attention and a family atmosphere to these children by providing afterschool care centers. The centers provide a safe place where attentive teachers and loving grandmothers (like this one) can help children learn.
